The fountains mingle with the river

雪莱的这首诗以自然现象来揭示自然界及人类共有的规律。诗人首先以丰富的想象及朴素的文风对自然景物一小溪、河流、大海和风儿等进行描述，归纳出万物都成双成对、互相融合的客观规律，然后把它推及人类的爱情之上，指出爱情是发自内心的自然的感情。第二诗节诗人从对自然界的描述过渡到人类之上，直指人类的爱情，鼓励相爱的人们不要害怕世俗的阻力，要勇于表达自己的感情，全诗情景交融，给人言虽尽而意无穷的感觉。
