You stand by River Jialing, I by winding streams.

Though far apart, still we share the same bright moonbeams.

All night long I think of you and for you I pine,

For I am not sure if you see the same moon shine.

Who knows when by waterside I’m longing for you,

By nocturnal riverside you’re missing me too?

When I receive your poem, I regret today:

Why did I not send mine to you so far away?

嘉陵江曲曲江池，

明月虽同人别离。

一宵光景潜相忆，

两地阴晴远不知。

谁料江边怀我夜，

正当池畔望君时。

今朝共语方同悔，

不解多情先寄诗。
